TIME RUNNING OUT FOR INLET PHOTOGRAPHERS

Closing date for entries to the Inlet Guardians’ Eighth Annual Photographic Competition is Friday March 7. Co-ordinator Ken Rae reports entries have been coming through in the last ten days and if last year’s experience is anything to go by there will be a flood towards the closing date.

“Last year we received almost 300 quality prints and the prize winning entries won favourable comments in each of the three displays that we mounted.

“This year the generosity of our sponsors has allowed us to establish new prizes, in each of our four sections, for competitors under 13 years of age. All local schools around the Inlet have received entry forms and many have publicised our competition in their newsletter. We are grateful for this support.

“We look forward to topping 400 entries by close of play on March 7.”

As last year there are four sections - photographs on the themes of Nature, Recreation, Human Impact and Reflections. Judging is in the hands of Geoff Marshall, nominated initially by the Kapiti Camera Club and now in his third year as the informed assessor and helpful commentator on the prints submitted.

The Prize Winners and Highly Commended prints will be on display in Whitby Mall 15-25 March, the City Library in Pataka 26 March to 4 April, and in Palmer’s Lifestyle Centre Plimmerton 5-14 April.

Entry forms are still available from Palmers, Plimmerton Gallery, Mana Pharmacy, Bright’s Mitre 10, Whitby Pharmacy, Whitby Post and Book Shop, Whitby New World, The Lighthouse in Pauatahanui and from Harvey Norman in the Megacentre.
