Meeting with Representatives of PICT: Christine Stanley, George McMillan and Grant Baker of the Pauatahanui Inlet Community Trust met with the Committee to discuss implications for both organisations of the development of the Porirua Harbour Strategy and moves towards setting up a Porirua Harbour Community Trust. With both parties confirming their continuing commitment to working for the implementation of the Pauatahanui Inlet Action Plan, it was agreed that any decision about longer term implications should await the chance to review the effectiveness and focus of the new PHCT in its initial operations.
Planning for the GOPI AGM, Bradey Room, 25 June: The Committee completed the planning for the AGM. Keith Calder’s acceptance of the invitation to speak as Coordinator of the Porirua Harbour Management Plan was confirmed.
The Committee agreed an enlarged addition to the Objects within the Rules of the Society - ‘To consult with the communities around the Inlet and to provide opportunities for the public to share in celebrating and caring for the Inlet’ - to be put to the AGM. The meeting commences at 7.30, and members are invited to arrive early for a cuppa.
Website: Webmaster Beverly Fairfax reported successful contact with the E-Commerce Faculty at Victoria University Wellington about a project for Third Year students to develop the GOPI website.
Tree Planting at Paremata Roundabout: Three members reported their participation in the planting beside SH1 south of the bridge, successfully completed on the morning of 6 June under the auspices of Keep Porirua Beautiful.
